Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (12-ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar or powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Ground Cinnamon and/or Fresh Strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk them together until evenly mixed.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs until they are light in color. Gradually add in granulated sugar, mixing until well combined.
  4. Stir in the whole milk and vanilla extract. Gently fold in the flour mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool completely.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and additional whole milk.
  7. Once cooled, poke holes all over the surface of the cake using a fork or skewer.
  8. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
  9. In a mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to whip together heavy whipping cream, sugar, and remaining vanilla extract. Beat until soft peaks form.
  10. Spread the whipped topping evenly over the soaked cake. Dust lightly with ground cinnamon or top with fresh strawberries if desired. Chill before serving for best results.
