  • 1 cup whole milk (warmed)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • Zest of one lemon

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk to 105°-110°F and mix it with yeast and sugar; let it foam for 5–10 minutes.
  2. Combine wet ingredients: melted butter, eggs, and sugar into the yeast mixture.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt; gradually add this to the wet mixture until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth; place in a greased bowl and let rise for an hour.
  5. Prepare the strawberry filling by cooking sliced strawberries with lemon juice, sugar, water, and cornstarch until thickened; cool it.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle; spread the cooled filling evenly over it.
  7. Roll tightly into a log shape, cut into pieces, and let them rise again in a greased dish for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake rolls for about 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. For icing, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth; add powdered sugar, lemon zest, and milk until desired consistency is reached.
  10. Drizzle icing over warm rolls before serving.
