  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • ½ cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground meat over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add diced onion and carrots; sauté until soft (about 5 minutes).
  4. Stir in garlic, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour in broth; simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened. Add frozen peas.
  6. Boil cubed potatoes in salted water until tender (about 15 minutes). Drain and mash with milk and butter until smooth.
