  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes
  • 2 cups diced apple
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • A sprinkle nutmeg
  • 2 lbs ground lean turkey
  • 3 Tbs tomato paste
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 3 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups strained tomatoes
  • 12 cans kidney beans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add sliced carrots, sweet potatoes, and diced apples. Season with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, rubbed sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
  2. Add ground turkey and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Stir in tomato paste and chili powder along with an additional teaspoon of salt.
  4. Mix in crushed tomatoes and strained tomatoes. Reduce heat to low-medium and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
  5. If using, add kidney beans during the last few minutes of cooking.
