  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 4 tbsp hoisin sauce

  • 2 tsp sesame oil

  2. Cut chicken thighs into 1.5-inch cubes and coat with cornstarch in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat and fry chicken in batches until crispy (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess oil.
  4. Reduce heat to medium; stir-fry ginger, garlic, and optional chili for about 10 seconds.
  5. Add hoisin sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and the cornstarch slurry to the pan; simmer until thickened.
  6. Toss fried chicken in the sauce until well coated and garnish with green onions before serving.
