  • 11/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 large egg + 2 tablespoons water, beaten
  • Vegetable, canola or peanut oil, for frying
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold butter
  • 3/4 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Dredge chicken in seasoned flour, dip in beaten egg mixture, then fry until golden brown.
  3. Preheat oven to 450°F and prepare biscuit dough by mixing flour, baking powder, salt, and cold butter until crumbly; then add buttermilk.
  4. Fold dough gently, cut into biscuits, and bake until golden.
  5. For the hot honey sauce, combine honey and red pepper flakes in a saucepan; stir in apple cider vinegar after simmering.
