  • 1½ cups beef broth
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: ½ cup frozen peas or mixed vegetables
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (for dumplings)
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • ½ cup milk (whole or 2%)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked.
  2. Add diced onion and sauté until soft; stir in garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Mix in tomato paste and sprinkle flour over the mixture, stirring well.
  4. Gradually pour in beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps; add seasonings and simmer for 8–10 minutes until thickened.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, butter, and milk to make dumpling dough.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the beef mixture; cover and reduce heat to low for about 15 minutes.
  7. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
