  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (for dumplings)
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • ½ cup milk (whole or 2%)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add diced onion and sauté until soft, then stir in minced garlic for one more minute.
  3. Mix in tomato paste, followed by flour to coat the mixture evenly. Gradually add beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps.
  4. Season with thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper; let simmer until thickened (8–10 minutes).
  5. For dumplings, combine flour, baking powder, salt, softened butter, and milk until just mixed.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough onto the beef mixture; cover and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
