  • 1 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 c. warm milk
  • 2 large eggs (room temp.)
  • 6 TBSP. butter (softened)
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 stick butter (softened)
  • 2 TBSP. molasses
  • 4 TBSP. butter (softened)
  • 6 oz. cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 1/2 TBSP. molasses
  • 2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 c. powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, brown sugar, and melted butter. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and ground ginger. Gradually add to wet ingredients along with eggs and molasses to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread softened butter over the surface. Sprinkle with brown sugar and spices.
  5. Roll tightly into a log shape and cut into 12 equal pieces. Place in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. For frosting, beat together cream cheese, butter, molasses, spices, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth; frost warm rolls.
