  • 1 whole turkey (1215 pounds)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 10 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Remove the turkey from packaging and pat dry.
  3. In a bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper.
  4. Gently separate skin from the breast and spread half of the herb butter underneath. Massage remaining butter all over the turkey.
  5. Season inside the cavity with additional salt and pepper.
  6. Truss the legs and tuck in wing tips.
  7. Place turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth in the bottom.
  8. Roast for about 13 minutes per pound or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C), basting every half hour.
  9. If skin browns too quickly, cover with aluminum foil.
  10. Let rest for at least 30 minutes before carving.
